A rare stamped Jin Nyodo 1.8'. According to his son Jin Nyosei, only a few shakuhachi bore his hanko. This flute was badly cracked and poorly repaired. Nearly the entire top half of the instrument was covered with binding and plaster. Undoing this hasty repair revealed the hidden hanko.

I 've known of only three Jin Nyodo shakuhachi outside of Japan. I owned one of them many years ago. As fate would have it, the other two showed up for a complete resotoration at the same time!
